Kathryn Reed, a beloved daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kathryn was born on August 27, 1956, in Louisiana. She is survived by many who cherished their time spent with her and is preceded in death by her father; Joseph Reed, mother; Marjorie Spikes Reed, and niece; Michelle. Kathryn's life was a testament to love and service. For over twenty-five years, Kathryn dedicated herself to the Beauregard Parish School Board within the special education department. Her passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom; she taught sign language with patience and enthusiasm to ensure that every child had access to communication. A proud alumna of the school for the deaf in Baton Rouge, Kathryn understood firsthand the importance of inclusion and understanding. Kathryn was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she volunteered tirelessly for Vacation Bible School and other church gatherings. Her infectious smile and warm spirit made everyone feel welcome. Kathryn's philosophy was simple yet profound: "Love God; love others." This mindset resonated through all aspects of her life as she touched countless hearts with compassion and grace. She had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life-a gift that endeared her deeply within both family circles and community ties. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20th from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. The funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM before proceeding to Spikes Cemetery for interment. As we gather together during this difficult time to celebrate Kathryn's remarkable journey through life-a journey marked by unwavering faithfulness-we remember not only our sorrow but also our gratitude for having known such an extraordinary woman whose legacy will continue through each act of kindness inspired by her memory.
