Kathryn "Kathy" Ables Sharp, a cherished mother, grandmother (Nana), aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2025, in Abilene, Texas at the age of 68 with her daughters by her side. Kathy was born on December 20, 1956, in Ranger, Texas to Elmer Elton Ables and Patricia (Patsy) Ann Simpson Ables. Kathy grew up in Abilene and Eastland, Texas and went to Eastland High School-Class of 1975. She married the love of her life, Wayne Sharp, on November 24, 1978 and was married for 32 years.
Kathy was a wonderful caring soul who brought laughter and brightness into the world. She was a full-time caregiver most of her life and was always known for taking care of others. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, because she would definitely voice her opinion. She loved her family to the fullest and made sure no one ever went without. She always made sure her children and grandchildren had everything and more than they ever needed in life. When she wasn't thinking about what to do or buy next for her grandchildren, she was drinking a Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper, watching reality TV, or cooking for her family. Kathy's spirit will be carried on by the many who knew and loved her.
Kathy is survived by her beloved daughters, Ticia Romo and Brandon, Missy Denard and Rocky; sons, Timmy Sharp and Laura, and Shannon Sharp; nine grandchildren, Paislea, Cameron, Colby, Sayde, Nick, Christopher, Ashley, Curtis and Aviana; eight great-grandchildren and nieces and nephew, Paige Hood, Kevin and Macie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sharp; parents, Elton and Patsy Ables and her sister, Traci Hamrick.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with us. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. A graveside service will follow on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Eastland Cemetery, officiated by Raymond Hamrick.
