Kathryn Margaret Tucker, affectionately known as Kate, Katie, and Grandma Kate, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 in Mount Dora, Florida at the age of 87.
Kate was born on April 9, 1938 in Williamsburg, Virginia. She spent many years in Niagara Falls, New York where she and her beloved husband, Paul Cashman Tucker, built a loving home and raised their four children. The couple married on February 8, 1964 and shared more than six decades of devotion and partnership.
In 1983, the family relocated to Central Florida. In later years, Paul and Kate enjoyed splitting their time between their beautiful homes in Maggie Valley, North Carolina and Leesburg, Florida-two places that reflected their love for family, nature, and peaceful living.
Kate is survived by her children: Paul Francis Tucker (married to Lori), Amy Elizabeth Cuddahee (married to Bill),Mary Margaret Lawless (married to Patrick)and Frederick Charles Tucker (married to April). She is also survived by her grandchildren Paul Thomas Tucker, Aris Tucker Myers,, and Avery Grace Tucker, as well as her six great grandchildren-four boys and two girls-who brought her endless joy.
She is further survived by her siblings Joan Routh, Thor Borresen, Bjarne Borresen, and Nick D'Amico, and was predeceased by her sister Dana Borresen.
Kate was always an independent and determined woman, moving away from home with her sisters even before marriage. After Paul's passing in 2022, she remained incredibly strong, living independently but always staying close to family. She took great pride in maintaining her own home-whether it was her cozy place in Leesburg, her home on Lake Dora, or her apartment in assisted living.
A lifelong and diehard Notre Dame and Buffalo Bills fan, Kate never missed a game and cheered passionately for her teams every week. She loved international travel, exploring Europe and North America with her brothers and sisters, and delighted in golf cart rides and countless adventures with Amy and Joan.
Kate was a true foodie, with a love for fine wine, good company, and lively conversation- always a reflection of her generous, people-loving spirit. She shared many weekends with Mary and Pat, passing down her love of cooking and hospitality. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable meals.
She found immense joy in supporting her family. Kate never missed an opportunity to attend her children's and grandchildren's activities-whether hockey games or Irish dance performances-and was known as everyone's biggest cheerleader. When her children were young, the Tucker home was always full of friends, laughter, and endless snacks. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved.
Kate loved each person in exactly the way they needed-sometimes with a hug, sometimes with a gentle truth, but always with love. After the reckoning, she was 100% by your side, steadfast and supportive.
