A lifelong area resident, she was a daughter of the late Jack Smith and the late Lois Byrd Prather.
She was a 1974 graduate of North Augusta High School. Following her graduation from North Augusta High School, she furthered her education by graduating from Augusta Technical College, with a degree in Nursing.
She was formerly a Licensed Practical Nurse at various healthcare facilities in Augusta, GA.
Kathy enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family. However, she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Trevor Dutton, Madyson Dutton, Blake Abercrombie, Adalynne Dutton, Bethany Anne Dutton, Alyssa Fitzgerald and Addison Weeks.
Along with her grandchildren, Kathy is loved, missed and memories of her will remain eternal in the hearts of her sons, David (Kim) Dutton and Derek (Nicole) Dutton, sister, Karen (Oscar) Ceron, niece, Kirsten Ceron, other relatives, as well as countless friends and acquaintances.
Also preceding Kathy in death was her beloved first grandchild, Kristen Lee Dutton.
No formal service is planned. However, the family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5 until 7 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC.
