Kathy Denise Latimer of Knoxville, Tn passed away peacefully on May 18th, 2025. Born on October 19, 1959, Kathy dedicated her life to service both in the military and in her community through the Postal Service. She was preceded in death by her parents Daisy and Robert Latimer Sr., Marquita Crews, Robert Latimer Jr. She is survived by her sister Debbie Wright and brother Brian Latimer.
Her nieces and nephews include Nikki Crews, Keith Crews, Marcellus Latimer, Nicholas Mitchell, Bertrand Walton, Rashawn Johnson, and Chancey Johnson; and her cherished great nieces and great nephews- Messiah Middlebrook, Anthony Garner Jr., Keiarra Johnson, Precious, Chenani, Chancey and Chantiya Johnson, Ayden and Brylie Mitchell along with several other extended family members.
Kathy was a part of Austin East High School class of 1977, where she was a standout player on the girls' basketball team. She had a career high of 32 points and 25 rebounds in a single game.
Kathy proudly served in the Air Force from 1977 to 1997, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Her military career took her to various parts of the world, where she earned numerous acclamations for her leadership. Her commitment to this country was unwavering.
Following her military service, Kathy continued to serve her community by working for the United States Postal Service, which she retired from after 20 years. She also served by making personal hygiene bags for the homeless throughout the community, which was more than charity - it was a calling.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, and in the hearts of those who now carry forward her generous spirit. She will be immensely missed, and remembered forever.
An intimate memorial service will be held Sunday, May 25th, 2025 at 2pm. The address is 6201 Royal River Drive Knoxville, TN 37914.
