Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC - HarveyKathy Ann Lestrade, 70, a devoted mother, grandmother, and retired healthcare worker of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Lacey Held, and son-in-law, Ryan Held; her cherished grandchildren, Logan, Emma, and Olivia Held; her brother, John Lestrade Jr., and sister-in-law, Darlene Lestrade. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John Lestrade Sr. and Verna Mae Lestrade.
Born on February 12, 1955, Kathy grew up at Lake Hermitage Marina, where her parents owned and operated the family business. She attended River Oaks Academy in Belle Chasse, graduating with fond memories and lifelong friendships. After welcoming her daughter in 1988, Kathy spent a short time living out of state before returning home to Belle Chasse, where she built a nearly 35-year career in healthcare—a profession in which she touched many lives with compassion and dedication.
Kathy had a lifelong love of animals and was never without the companionship of pets. She especially adored her dogs Mochi and Pearl, and her cats Merlin and Lola—asking about Mochi with concern even the day before her passing.
She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and unwavering courage. At just 42, Kathy bravely defeated stage IV breast cancer. Years later, she overcame a life-threatening illness and infection just before the birth of her first grandchildren, a blessing she deeply treasured. After a valiant battle with congestive heart failure and kidney failure in her final years, Kathy entered eternal rest, reunited with her parents in heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her remarkable life.
