Memorial Service for Kathy will take place on Friday March 6th at St. Patricia Catholic Church, 9050 South 86th Avenue Hickory Hills Illinois 60457. Memorial visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 11:00 AM immediately following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be made out to the family's wishes.

Kathy McHugh (nee Carter) Age: 63

Beloved wife of Michael McHugh. Devoted mother of Ryan (Ashley) McHugh and Megan (Steve) Percic. Proud Grandmother of Kaelie, Makensie, Stella, Claire and Roarke. Dear daughter of the late Paul and June (nee O'Connor) Carter. Loving sister of Diane (Bruce) Hushka, Dave (Annette) Carter, Mark (Karen) Carter and the late Angela Carter. Loving sister in law to Robert (Terri) McHugh, Daniel (Sharon) McHugh, Tim (Holly) McHugh, and Joe McHugh. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Born on February, 10th, 1963, and grew up in Chicago, Illinois the youngest of five children. She later resided in Hickory Hills, where she raised her family. Kathy devoted her life to her family whom she loved beyond measure. She shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Mike, built on love, respect, support and laughter. Together they created a home filled with many cherished memories.

As a mother, Kathy was simply amazing. She always put her children first. She was their greatest supporter, their safest place, and their guiding light. Whether it was offering advice, or words of encouragement, she shaped their lives with patience, grace, and unconditional love.

For 29 years, she battled breast cancer with unwavering strength, grace and faith. She faced every challenge with resilience and became an inspiration to all who witnessed her determination. She was a true warrior whose perseverance and positive spirit touched countless lives.

Kathy found so much joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed making every holiday extra special and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter and love- even up until her very last moments.

Summers were especially dear to her heart. At her beloved home in Michigan, she found peace in the simple pleasures of lake breezes, boat rides, sunsets, card games, late night music sessions and morning coffee. It was her sanctuary, a place where family memories were made year after year.

She also treasured her close knit group of friends, known as "The Herd". Their laughter, shared traditions, and heartfelt conversations brought her immeasurable happiness. Through every season of life, these friendships were a constant source of strength and joy.

Her legacy of love, strength and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A service will be held at St. Patricia Parish in Hickory Hills, IL on Friday, March 6th, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30am-11:00am followed by a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be made out to the family's wishes. All arrangements entrusted to Orrico Kourelis Funeral Services Inc.
