Beloved wife of 32 years to Raymond Metz; mother to Victoria (Jay) Miller; sister to Carol (Dennis) Gordon, Robert (Adrienne) Kimmel, Joanne (Ronald) Steranko; aunt to Laura Miller, Emily Carlin, Alicia Kimmel, Maggie Steranko,Katie Steranko, Grayling Kimmel, Finn Kimmel; sister-in-law to Nadine (Jim) Byrum; and her pet Maltese, Jozie.
Kathy proudly worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and graduated from the first graduating class of her nursing program in 1997 at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pitt, she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Prior to collage, she was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, graduating in 1975. Shortly after graduating from collage, she gained the title of mother, welcoming Victoria in December the same year. She was an avid reader, concert goer, and music appreciator. Although not the biggest exercise enthusiast she did have a love of Jazzercise, enjoying it alongside her friends Lisa and Aimee. Kathy appreciated a good cake and fine wine (especially her Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc). For the last few months of her life, her sweet tooth thrived by eating any pumpkin flavored sweets she could get, including ColdStone Creamery pumpkin ice cream supplied by her sorority sister Sue. Kathy was a devoted, loving, giving, and passionate wife, mother, and friend. She attended every swim meet to watch her daughter succeed. In August, she was able to attend Victoria and Jay's wedding, a highlight of her life and a beautiful day for everyone. Kathy's final months were filled with love and compassion thanks to the staff of Bridges Hospice, the Hillman Cancer Center, and her friend, Risa. The family thanks them for their loving care.
Kathy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Friends received, Saturday, November 15th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, at Soxman Funeral Homes, LTD., 7450 Saltsburg Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, where a Service will be held at 3:00 pm. Donations in Kathy's name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network)).
