In accordance with Kathy's wishes, cremation will take place and the family is planning a private memorial to celebrate her life that will take place at a later date.

Age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 31, 2022. Kathy was born in Alma, Michigan on April 21, 1960, the daughter of the late Lyle E. and Mary E. "Betty" (McNeill) Paul. She was a graduate of Alma High School, class of 1978. Kathy spent her early years working for her father's pharmacy, eventually leading to her life-long career as a Pharmacy Technician. Kathy most recently spent the last 20 years of her career working for the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. She was the most loving grandma to her three grandsons, to whom she was like a second mother. Kathy enjoyed watching them play sports, accompanying them to school functions and spending time with them at the beach, amusement parks and having fun with them on vacations. She loved sports, especially football, often getting excited and shouting at the players on her TV. Kathy also loved reading and spending time at the beach, but most of all, she enjoyed being around her beloved daughters and grandsons. She will be missed every day. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Jordan and Alix Word; grandsons, Mekhi, Jayden and Elijah; brother, Mike (Kathy) Paul; sister, Karen (John) Fricke and brother in-law, Bruce Word. Besides her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her ex-husband and best friend, Brian Word and brother, Patrick Paul.
