Kathy Sharpe of Timberville, Virginia, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2024.
She was born December 5, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joe Kmetz and Margaret Buchovecky.
She graduated Maple Heights High school in 1968 and then went on to complete nursing school. She established a career in nursing, working in various departments and even cities throughout her professional life. As a nurse, she regularly volunteered at Camp Overlook and spent time working in Indonesia with Project HOPE to help with tsunami relief.
She was an active member of the church community, deeply loved the Lord, and she dedicated her life to caring for others.
She is survived by her husband Richard Sharpe; one daughter, Samantha Altenberger and husband Chad; two brothers, Ben Stankewicz and wife Jane, Joe Kmetz and wife Nancy; three stepchildren, Michael Sharpe and wife Rebecca, Michelle Frye and husband Chris, Gwenn Campanella and husband Ron; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Sharpe, Brandon, Amanda, and Daniel Campanella, along with many other family members she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 20 at Sunset Drive United Methodist Church, 127 S. Sunset Dr, Broadway, VA 22815.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camp Overlook, 3014 Camp Overlook Lane, Keezletown, VA 22832.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
