Kathy Slice, 65, of West Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.   Born August 8, 1958, she was raised in Wisconsin. A series of life adventures landed her in South Carolina more than 40 years ago. This is where she stayed for the majority of her adult years enjoying winters without Wisconsin snow.     "Miz Slice" celebrated her retirement earlier this year from the Richland County School District One, Webber Elementary, where she was an educator for many years.     Survivors include her siblings,  John, Joseph, Paul, Mary, and their spouses; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; and long-time partner Michael Sharpe and his family.   Kathy is preceded in death by a husband Gerald; parents, Ann and Jack, and a brother Roger.   Kathy was generous and loving, willing to help those in need. She was always an animal lover and showered her love and generosity on her four-legged fur-babies, who already miss her terribly.     To the confusion of her northern family she became a big fan of Nascar and chitlins, but she did manage to stay true to the Green Bay Packers!  She loved thrifting and was just settling into retirement; figuring out what new hobby she was going to take up.   We're all still in shock that God had another plan for Miz Slice, but we surrender her to his care.  Her gentle smile and goofy sense of humor will be sorely missed.   A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, State Street, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.    The family has entrusted McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation State Street with the handling of arrangements.
