Kathy Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ingram Funeral Home - Marysville on Feb. 20, 2026.
Kathy Ann Smith, age 74, of Marysville, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 14, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born August 23, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, Kathy was raised by her mother, Margaret May (Wright) Weber, and her adopted father, Raymond Weber. After graduating from high school, she worked in several places over the years, but her favorite job was steaming and pressing clothes at laundromats-work she genuinely enjoyed.

Kathy was married to Delbert Smith for more than 20 years. He preceded her in death in 2008.

A true free spirit, Kathy was a hippie at heart who loved rock and roll and could travel the world with little more than a tent, a good playlist, and the promise of a music festival ahead. She loved the outdoors-fishing, skipping and collecting rocks, and playing in the creek. At home, she could often be found reading a good book or working on a puzzle. She was spunky, full of humor, and well-known for her favorite line: "I'm going to live forever."

More than anything, Kathy adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she helped raise some of them-leaving a lasting imprint of love, laughter, and strength on her family. She also loved all of her cats over the years, especially her beloved cat, Spooky.

Kathy is survived by her two daughters, Shannon (Brian) Russell and Kelly (Chad) Burleson; six grandchildren, Matthew (Morgan) Burleson, Michael (Madi) Burleson, Zachary (Audrey) Burleson, Tyrone McNelly, Tre McNelly, and Kaitlyn Copeland; seven great-grandchildren, Lucy, Nora, Walker, Sareigha, Ruby, Legend, and Elijah; her brother, Jeff Weber; her former husband, Paul (Carolyn) Petty; and her loving friend and caretaker, Eric Bergman.

Including her husband and parents, Kathy was preceded in death by two siblings: Penny and George Weber.

Services honoring her life will be handled privately by her family.
