Kathy Jean Winters, age 69, passed away February 2, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was born March 7, 1955 to Millie Osborne Roark and the late Noah Wayne Roark. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca McElyea; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Pearl Winters; and brothers-in-law, William Winters and Clinton Winters.
Kathy was the most kind and forgiving woman with a heart of gold. She always took care of everyone and was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reading the Bible and attending church at Living Church of God in Bristol. She enjoyed thrifting, flowers, going to yard sales, and crafting.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 52 years, Bruce Winters; daughter, Wendy Shearin (Willis); son, Fabian Winters; mother, Millie Roark; sisters, Linda Coffey (Tom), Janice Bevil (Louis), Billie Faye Wallace, Judy Cafeo, Anita Atwood (Steve); brothers, Wayne Roark (Martha), Joe Roark (Shelby), Mark Roark (Donna), Daniel Roark (Keri), Tywan Roark (Lovely); grandchildren, Alexis Winters, Caden Winters; honorary granddaughter, “Little Miss” Lydia; sisters-in-law, Linda Blevins (Gerald), Mary Dollar, Barbara Miller (Lane); brother-in-law, Michael Winters (Angel); several nieces, nephews and her church family at Living Church of God, especially Nelma, Sue, Anita, Faye, Jennifer, Gina, Kaylee, and Wanda.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Lenny Bowers officiating. The graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be Mark Roark, Daniel Roark, Willis Shearin, Jason Woodards, Kevin Blevins, and Troy Dollar. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Winters, Wayne Roark, and Tywan Roark.
