Edgewood, Kentucky – Kathy Lynn Woodsmall, 67, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, after being comforted by her family and friends. Her kindness, love, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kathy was born on June 25, 1958, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to parents Richard E. & Bernadine (Kasmarik) Dudley. She moved to northern Kentucky with her parents and brother Rick when she was 3 years old. She attended Boone County High School, graduating in 1976. She then went on to attend Moorehead State University, where she graduated with degrees in History and Geography. She worked as a travel agent for many years, independently and with firms, putting her degrees to use in an unconventional way to assist others.
Most importantly, Kathy met the love of her life, Harrison Woodsmall, while traveling to Hawaii. This remained one of their favorite destinations to visit, returning many times over the years. They remained faithfully devoted to each other until his passing in 2022.
Kathy and Harry were devoted travelers. They would take any chance they could to visit far-off places, often bringing their extended family with them. Harry and Kathy’s brother, Rick, learned to scuba dive together while Kathy would spend her time snorkeling, taking the nieces and nephews out to eat at new places, or taking any chance they could to visit out-of-town family, amusement parks, festivals, and zoos.
When not seeing the world, Kathy would spend her time refinishing furniture, while listening to talk radio or musical soundtracks, and cooking various ethnic foods with her husband Harry. A confirmed animal lover, especially dogs, she and Harry rescued many pets over the years.
In addition to her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by her beloved Harrison Woodsmall.
Kathy is survived by her siblings, Richard E. Dudley Jr., David A. Dudley, and Kelly Doll (Jeffrey); in-laws Cheryl Conley (Jay), Mark Woodsmall (Victoria Hartman), and Shannon Woodsmall (Ingrid); nieces & nephews Taylor Doll (Breanna), Austin Doll (Hannah), Brein Carroll (Josh), Korbin Dudley (Matt Gladd), Anna Doll (Jeremiah Cupps), David Judd, Jessica Dyer (Chris), Markie Woodsmall, Maxwell Woodsmall (Delilah), Clint Woodsmall; and great nieces Lyra Doll, Quinn Doll, Amara Gladd, Caroline Cupps, Vivian Carroll, and Bella Woodsmall.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery (9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) with family gathering at the funeral home at 11:30 am before processing to the gravesite.
