Kay Ferguson

Kay Ferguson, 77 of Stonewood, departed this life on Monday October 28th, 2024. She was born in Clarksburg on November 30th, 1946, the daughter of the late Filmore Worth (Walkie) Moneypenny and Grace Mason.
She is survived by her daughter Myra Sandy and her husband Denzil of Stonewood, her son Joe Thornton and his life companion Yvonne Taylor of Ravenna, OH as well as her much loved little dog Cookie. She has seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her former stepchildren whom she dearly loved Larry, Gary, Jimmy DeLong, Christine Riddle and their children as well as others who considered her a second mom.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Ferguson. Sisters Wanda Pippen, Rita Ross and granddaughter Leanda Kay Sandy.
Kay held several jobs in her life including retail, housekeeping, factory work, office work and delivering phone books before having to take an early retirement. She also acquired her GED and later attended Bohecker's business College in Ravenna, OH and Salem College in West Virginia and was only one credit shy of achieving a degree in accounting.
Her hobbies were sewing, making crafts and playing games on her computer. She liked getting together with friends and family to listen to music and have a good time and also enjoyed helping to organize several family reunions.
Red was her favorite color. Elvis was one of her favorite singers and she would much rather be having a party than attending her own funeral. One of her favorite sayings was" I'm crazy not stupid!". She believed in living life to the fullest and had a very giving nature.
Her family would like to thank the family medicine team, especially Dr. Courtney who was her doctor for many years. A big thanks also goes out to the WVU Medicine Hospice nurses and aides for all their help and support these last few months and to the many family members and friends who checked on her and kept her in their prayers.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4 pm - 6 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024, where a celebration of life service will be held at 6 pm.
