Kay Goff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown's Funeral Service - Durant on Jan. 28, 2025.
Kay (Kathy) Ruth Goff, age 79, a long-time Round Rock, Texas resident, was born on October 16, 1945, as a proud Okie from Muskogee to Newell and Edward Davenport. In 2014 she and her sister Deborah Davenport relocated to Mead, Oklahoma where they established a home together, rescuing and caring for every animal she could convince her equally animal-loving sister to allow.
Lovingly cared for by her sister Debbie and visited by loved ones, Kathy passed away in Durant with her daughter Micki by her side on January 26, 2025.
Kathy was a longtime employee of the State of Texas serving in many capacities. She retired from the Department of Agriculture in 2012 and achieved her retirement goals of quilting and napping.
Among her many interests, Kathy was a knowledgeable and prolific quilter and seamstress. The Linus Project, Quilts of Valor and the Austin Foster Transitional House have all been recipients of her many quilts. When her community was in need Kathy was there to offer her services, crafting over 600 handmade masks during Covid and making numerous handmade hats for the unhoused. She was a longtime member of the Main Street Quilt Guild in Round Rock holding a number of offices for them. In recent years, she was especially proud of the ribbons awarded to her quilts at the Durant Quilt Festival..
In years past, Kathy's support was instrumental in the initiation of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. She was an avid reader, a marvelous cook, and an enthusiastic OU fan who loved fishing and driving fast cars.
Kathy is survived by her daughters Micki McDaniel, husband Evan of Hutto, Texas, and Kymberly Tennies of Pflugerville, Texas. Grandchildren Mariah Welsh of Grapevine, Texas, Shelby, Raegan, and Samantha King of Pflugerville, Texas, Devan McDaniel and wife Brianna, Dustin McDaniel and partner Jacqueline Gibson of Hutto, Texas. Sisters Paula Hardin and husband Jim of Tushka, Oklahom,a and Deborah Davenport of Mead, Oklahoma, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many friends in the quilting community, notably her dear friends Pam Duffy and BJ Cormier.
Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter Anna Marie Tennies Thomas.
