Kay Hewitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Dec. 9, 2025.
Kay Eileen Hewitt, 90, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Valley Manor in Excelsior Springs.

Kay was born on July 9, 1935, in Fort Madison, IA, the daughter of Wilbur and Lona (Harker) Parrish. She was united in marriage to Albert Everett Hewitt of Henrietta on November 22, 1953; he preceded her in death on May 3, 2020.

Survivors include: two sons, Wesley (Donna) Hewitt and Chris (Cindy) Hewitt both of Richmond; daughter, Brenda Eileen Hambrick of Excelsior Springs; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her son, Darren Eugene Hewitt, great-grandson, Mason Hewitt, four brothers, Carson, Wallace, Ralph, and James, and three sisters, Ruby, Ruth, and Katherine.

Kay was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Fort Madison High School. She devoted her life to caring for her home and family, proudly serving as a housewife and homemaker. Her family lovingly remembers her as athletic and quick on her feet-fast with a yard stick when needed-and a talented cook whose meals brought comfort to all who gathered around her table. Her kitchen was well-known as a favorite local gathering place in the city of Henrietta, where friends, neighbors, and family were always welcomed with good food, hot coffee, and warm conversation.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kay Hewitt Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M., with services to follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Please remember to share your memories of Kay with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
