Kay Ellen Howell, loving mother, daughter, and friend to many, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Kay, 74, was born on June 17, 1951, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Lee and Ardis (Bricker) Hurley. In her younger years Kay worked as a bank teller and manager before finding her passion as a veterinarian tech in Arizona. Kay enjoyed many hobbies and loved decorating for various holidays, collecting things (from Mickey Mouse memorabilia, to dogs, to even stuffed animals), sewing, quilting, spoiling her dogs and grandkids, and going on family vacations in her younger years. While in Arizona she met the love of her life, Alan Howell, and together they created many lasting memories until his passing. Their favorite activity was camping with their friends and enjoying retirement. Kay is survived by her children, Anthony "Tony" Robertson and Megan (Kurt) Juday; grandchildren, Trenton Quinn Robertson, Vincent Lee Cortright, and Faith Aurora Cortright; and cousins, Dave and Marilynn. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alan; and her parents. Friends are encouraged to support Kay's family by attending services or sharing memories on her Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, at 5:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Laura Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 3-5:00 p.m. The funeral will be webcast so you may watch it from any computer, smartphone, or mobile device that has internet access. Go to www.prayfuneral.com, click on Kay's tribute, then click on Photos and Videos from your computer (or Media from your smart phone). If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Eaton County Humane Society. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
