Floyd Fender Obituary

Floyd Ellsworth Fender, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on August 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 30, 1937, in Hastings, the son of Adam and Martha (Fenstamaker) Fender. Floyd later made his home in Vermontville beginning in 1965, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and countless adventures in the great outdoors. Floyd was an avid outdoorsman who felt most alive in nature-whether hunting, fishing, or blazing trails on his quad. He loved the family camping trips that began in a simple tent and eventually grew into trailer adventures filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness. He also took great pride in his yard, his truck, his boat, and his loyal dogs, each a reflection of his hardworking hands and caring heart. He worked for Fisher Body, providing for his family with the same dedication and determination that defined every part of his life. Known for always being on time, living "full tilt all of the time," and sealing every promise with a true and honest handshake, Floyd was a man of integrity. He could never quite keep a secret, but his openness and warmth made him the heart of every gathering. Above all else, Floyd's greatest joy was his family. He adored his wife of 64 years, Janet, and treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren. His support was unwavering, his pride in them endless. To his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, he offered the same love and care as if they were his own. His family knew him not only as a wonderful husband and grandfather, but as the steady anchor and guiding light of their lives. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Janet Fender; children, Joanna Fender, Marsha (Bob) Morris, Karen (Todd) Gonser, Lisa (John) Emenhiser, Jill Kempf, Floyd (Stacey Everitt) Fender. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Fender, and son-in-law, Ron Kempf. Floyd will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of the outdoors, and the countless ways he made life brighter for those around him. Friends are encouraged to support Floyd's family by attending services 12:00 PM Tuesday August 26, 2025 at the Pleasantview Family Church in Dowling, MI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM preceding the service. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo. Families are also invited to share memories on his Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com .
