Kay Francis Moore King of Elon left us on March 31, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior. She lived a beautiful, long life of 92 years and was married to her late husband, Marvin Lee King, for 58 years.

She was born in Roxboro on July 31, 1931 (a birthday that she shares with her youngest son, Scottand his daughter, Molly). Kay graduated from Roxboro High School in 1949. She was a housewife and a keypunch operator for Liberty Mills, Glen Raven Mills, and Burlington Industries. Kay loved to have company, especially that of her family. Her gifts were many – hospitality, painting, sewing, crocheting, and cooking to name a few. Her fried chicken, biscuits, yeast rolls, chocolate pies, cinnamon rolls, and strawberry shortcake compared to none. She taught Sunday School, served on the Prayer Team, the Prayer Shawl Ministry and Women’s Circle at First United Methodist Elon. But most importantly she was the best mom and grandmother ever!!!!

Kay is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: Nancy K. and Ralph Gilliam of Elon, David and Tammy King of Gibsonville, Brad and Lori King of Bernville, Pa., Kathy K. and John Hines of Elon and Scott and Kelly King of Glen Allen, Va. She was the proud grandmother of Michael and Natalie Gilliam, Paul and Kristy Gilliam, Lee Gilliam, Taylor and Katie Jones, Alexander and Emilee Dillon, Hunter and Morgan King, Landon and Lindsay Hines, and Blake, Davis, and Molly King. She was also a proud great grandmother of Aubrey, Caroline, and Beau (Michael and Natalie), Aiden Gilliam (Paul and Kristy), and Jackson Jones (Taylor and Katie). She has one sister-in-law, Ruby Moore of Roxboro, a brother-in-law, John King also of Roxboro, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents Earl Finley Moore and Stella Church Moore, her siblings, and spouses: Bealer (Nell) Moore, Lawrence (Margie) Moore, Sam Moore, and Elsie Moore.
