Kay Diane Long, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 8, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, Diane dedicated her life to her family and her profession, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was a daughter of the late Marion and Iva Bloodsworth Tyler. Diane served as the executive secretary to the President of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, retiring in 2011 after a distinguished career in the healthcare industry. Her passion for education led her to earn a Doctorate in Theology from the Christian World College of Theology, and she was honored to be ordained as a pastor on two occasions. Music was a significant part of her life; she loved worship and praise music and devoted many years to leading both the teen and adult choirs in her church. Family was Diane's greatest joy. She cherished the time spent with her family, whom she adored. She found immense happiness playing games and creating memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often relishing in nature's beauty. Diane is survived by her loving daughter Kimberly Ann Hudson and husband, John; her grandchildren, Lauren Speake and husband, Scott, Abbie Johnson and husband, Michael and Matthew Long and wife, Paige; her great grandchildren, Coty, Trace, Hayden, Kade and Rilee; her brother Richard Tyler (Karyl); a niece, Tara Keilberg; and a daughter-in-law, Shelly Long, who will all hold her memory close to their hearts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Wilson Long; and a son, James "Jimmy" Dean Long. A visitation will be held at Short Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 allowing friends and family to gather in remembrance of her life. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Diane will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony in St. Peter's Cemetery in Oriole, MD. Always being mindful of others in need, Diane was an avid supporter of those that sacrificed their time doing mission work, and especially supportive of Rev. Charlene Harris and her work in Africa. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests tax deductible contributions be made to Elim Fellowship, 1703 Dalton Road, Lima, NY, 14485, with a note - "For Charlene Harris." Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar. Please visit www.shortfh.com to share online condolences with Diane's family.
