Kay Powers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Sep. 6, 2023.

Kay Powers, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 6, 2023 following a long illness. Kay was born in Indianapolis, to the late Thomas and Rosemary Dalton on November 17, 1941. Kay was married to Thurman Powers who passed away in 1995. Kay could often be found at her grandchildren’s school activities/sporting events while they were growing up. She was faithful in her Catholic religion and was a long-time member of St. Roch Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Kay was known to text her grandchildren “Good morning” and “Goodnight” without fail. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed Bingo, crossword puzzles, “Days of Our Lives” and Hallmark movies. Kay was quite a sports enthusiast and was always up for a Notre Dame football game, Racing, or Indianapolis Colts football game. If you were ever looking for Kay on a Sunday afternoon, she could be found playing cards with her brothers and sisters, enjoying Jeff's Starbucks runs, and ordering Doordash. She loved hard and will be missed dearly.

Kay is survived by her daughters; Sherri O’Keefe and Julie (George) Spaeth, grandchildren; Tyler (Emily) O’Keefe, Ashley O’Keefe and Joe, Ben, Aaron and Jenna Spaeth, siblings; Tom (Cheryl) Dalton, Steve (Linda) Dalton, Maggie (Jeff) Hancock, Norma (Jerry) Aldrich, Joe (Karen) Dalton and Theresa (Mike) Sauter, sister-in-laws; Anna Dalton and Jan Dalton, along with many nieces and nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband; Thurman Powers, sister; Judy and brothers; Mike & Marty.

Visitation will be held at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Indianapolis, on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Roch Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
