Mrs. Kay Duncan Rooks, 88, of Newnan, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home.
Mrs. Rooks was born August 31, 1937, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Firley G. Bowden and Ruby Hendrix Bowden. A resident of Moreland for many years, she retired as manager of Cato Stores in Newnan and was then employed by Lassetter Gas Company and Lighthouse Counseling following her retirement. She was a member of Raymond Baptist Church, also attended Mills Chapel Baptist Church, enjoyed time spent with her church friends and her family, and especially loved shopping with her daughters in-law and granddaughters.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in-law, Randall and Kittie Duncan of Moreland, Danny and Elaine Duncan of Newnan; grandchildren, Kristal and James Richards, Seth and Courtney Duncan, Allan and Brandy Duncan, Stephen Duncan, Brandin and LeeAnn Self; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Duncan and Rev. L.B. Rooks, Jr.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Michael Holdredge will officiate and interment will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.
