Kernersville – Mr. Keith Alan Best, 81, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1944, in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Rosalie Wilson Best and Keith Austin Best. Keith retired from Inmar and formerly worked in the airline industry. He began his career as a ticket agent for Western Airlines in Wyoming. He quickly became interested in computer technology and worked with mainframe computers at United Airlines in Colorado. He was recruited by Piedmont Airlines to create their reservation system and moved his family to North Carolina. When Piedmont and USAir merged, he was named Vice-President of systems and operations. He also spent two years working in England with British Airways.
During retirement, he enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Shepherd Center. His favorite past times were playing golf, spending time with his family at the lake house, working with genealogy and playing brain teaser games. Keith will be missed greatly, he had a wonderful sense of humor, loved people and was very compassionate. He was a loving and dedicated husband and totally devoted to his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Sandy Best, two daughters, Holly Compton and husband Tim of Walkertown, Heather Pardue and husband Ben of Greensboro and their two kids, Evan and Holden, one brother, Ken Best and wife Sally of Chesterfield, Missouri.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Outreach Ministries of Walkertown, at 1882 Old Hollow Rd, Walkertown, NC 27051, or to LionHeart Academy of the Triad at 2802 St Leo's St, Greensboro, NC 27405.
