Keith Bloomquist, 79, of Marshalltown, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at UnityPoint Health–Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. A private family graveside service will take place at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.

Funeral services will be live-streamed on the Anderson Funeral Homes Facebook page.

Memorials have been established for The Gold Mettle Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church or the UnityPoint Health Marshalltown Foundation, 55 UnityPoint Way, Marshalltown.

Born January 25, 1946, in Boone, Keith was the youngest of seven children born to Arnold and Mable (Olson) Bloomquist. He was a 1964 graduate of Boone High School and received his BBA from the University of Iowa in 1968.

In the fall of 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Education Center of the 4th Missile Command in Chuncheon, Korea.

He married Mary Engberg at Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington, on August 17, 1969. Keith and Mary were blessed with two sons, Todd and Jeffrey.

Keith and Mary made their home in Burlington for almost 30 years. Keith was vice president of finance and administration at Chittenden and Eastman Company and later the U.S. controller for Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison.

In 1999, he became the chief financial officer of MARSHALLTOWN Company in Marshalltown, retiring in 2013.

Keith was a committed community volunteer. He served as president of the Burlington/West Burlington Chamber of Commerce, the Des Moines County Mental Health Advisory Board, and the Messiah Lutheran Church Council.

His passion for sports led him to cheer on the Iowa Hawkeyes and to serve as a coach for a multitude of sports, including flag football, T-ball, Little League, and church league softball. He was recognized by the City of Burlington in 1999 for his leadership role in the establishment of the Burlington Regional RecPlex.

He also served on the Community Foundation Board, Marshall County Board of Health, Matins Kiwanis Board, Salvation Army Board, and the Marshalltown Planning and Zoning Commission.

He was a charter member of Crosswinds Toastmasters, a trustee of the Ann Keyser Trust, chair of both the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center (MMSC) and MMSC Foundation boards, and served on the UnityPoint Health Marshalltown Foundation Board.

Keith was a man of extreme patience, high principles, and integrity. He was known for his quick wit, joke telling, and ready puns.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary; sons, Todd (Erin) of New York City, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Chicago; grandchildren, Logan and Layne; brother, Dennis (Sharon) of Boone; and several nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles, Harold, and Milford; and sisters JoAnn Grimm and Phyllis Reed.

I´m very sad about the loss of Keith. Keith was a wonderful classmate in high school. He was a bright student, had a gentle soul, and a big heart!!!
