HARPER-Keith Bruns, age 82, of Harper, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at his home.
Keith was born October 1, 1941, in Sigourney, to Malcolm and Bernadeen (Standfield) Bruns and attended Sigourney Schools. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 until 1964. Keith married Wilma Leon. They had three children, Bryan, Craig and Lynn and were later divorced. He then married Mary Alice Miller and they had two sons, Norman and Mike and they later divorced. On August 18, 1999, he married Kathleen Clubb. Keith worked for Iowa Culvert Builders for many years, retiring as a foreman when they went out of business. He also built houses with his brother-in-law, worked as a custodian at the court house and also worked at Bender Foundry. He was a member of the V.F.W. and attended the Presbyterian Church in years past. Keith enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, going to the casino, running, gardening and eating homemade doughnuts.
Survivors include his wife: Kathleen of Harper; children: Bryan (Robin) Bruns of Rutlege, Missouri, Craig (Carmen) Bruns of Edina, Missouri, Lynn (Terry) Findling of Kirksville, Missouri, Norman Bruns of Harper and Mike (Angie) Bruns of Hubbard, Steve (Jazz) Clubb of Sigourney, James Gillum and special friend Monica of Sigourney, Thomas (Alaina) Gillum of Packwood, Elizabeth Ward and special friend Todd of What Cheer, Melissa (Travis) Brubaker of Sigourney, Lisa Howell of Weatherford, Texas, Penny Upton of Lexington, Kentucky, Marsha Blanton of Augusta, Georgia and Ronnie Blanton of Dearing, Georgia; 11 grandchildren: Sara Scurlock, Travis Bruns, Jessica Waddle, Kelly Yearns, Amanda McCarty, Debra Snyder, Matthew McCarty, Austin Bruns, Hailey Canny, Caleb Bruns and Chase Bruns; 26 bonus grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and one on the way; sister: Donna Decker of Sigourney and two brothers: John “Pee Wee” Bruns of Sigourney and Dave (Janice) Bruns of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Kay Sanchez; brothers-in-law: Wayne “Swede” Decker and John Sanchez and sister-in-law: Elsie May Bruns.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Enchanted Events near Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Enchanted Events.
