Keith Cain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Day Macz Funeral Home - Patoka on Feb. 12, 2026.
Keith Cain, 83, of Patoka passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia surrounded by his family. He was born on February 27, 1942, in Fayette County, the son of Delmer and Fern (Orrell) Cain. He married the light of his life, Charlotte Jett on January 21, 1961, in Centralia and she survives him in Patoka.

Along with his wife, Charlotte Cain of 65 years, survivors include his sons, Bryan Cain and wife Sue, Dale Cain and special friend Kayla Beck, and Scott Cain and wife Jennifer all of Patoka; grandchildren, Matt and Beth Cain , Mitch and Krista Cain, Kayla and Kurt Heimann, Zac and Allison Cain, Macie and Blain Scholes, Jered Cain, Jaelyn Cain, and Jesse Cain; great-grandchildren, Brady, Greyson and Noah Cain, Hudson and Hayden Voss, Hazel Heimann, Layton, Lynnie and Lawson Cain, Evelyn Schloes, and Isla McClinton; brothers, Bill Cain, Clayton Cain and wife Kay, Dennis Cain and wife Cheryl; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Fern Cain; and his sisters, Jean Belcher, and Wilma Sides.

Keith was a good, strong man, highly respected, hard-working, and a protective provider for his family. He was a pillar of the community of Patoka, actively involved with the preservation of the heritage of his hometown. Keith served on the Patoka School Board and the Crackers Neck Pratt Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Patoka Booster Club. Keith worked the land as a farmer, a passion he passed down to his sons. He also worked on construction, always the first to pitch in toward a job done well. Keith enjoyed living in the country, fishing, shooting trap and deer hunting. Keith's qualities of discipline, commitment, perseverance and respect for your teammates and the opposing team continues with each generation of the Cain's sportsman legacy. Family meant the world to Keith, and he would light up whenever they were all together, especially his grandkids that made him so proud.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Patoka First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery in rural Patoka. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Keith's honor to Patoka School Basketball, which will benefit the High School Basketball program.
