Keith Cummings, a loving husband, dad, granddad and great granddad passed away on September 11th at the age of 91.

Keith was known for his broadcaster's voice. Keith started his broadcasting career in the military service when he personally interviewed Elvis Presley as he was inducted into the army. A prized moment Keith often spoke of. He was a news and sports broadcaster in Lansing for over 30 years. His steadfast voice was listened to over WILS, WFMK and WJIM. He so enjoyed broadcasting MSU basketball and football games. He also broadcasted local high school games and always talked so highly of watching Magic Johnson play. His voice was strong and eloquent over the radio waves.

When Keith retired from his broadcasting career, he started working at Lorenz Buick which became Buege Buick. He worked there for many years taking pride in each car he sold. He always had M &M's hidden in his desk drawer of which his daughter and grandson loved to snitch on visits.

Over his years, Keith loved to golf, fish, play poker, do crossword puzzles and read. When he could no longer golf and fish, he loved sitting on his porch or deck reading in the sunshine. Watching and feeding birds was one of his most beloved past times. He was very ingenious in his ways to deter the squirrels. He enjoyed playing poker at Firekeepers and Gun Lake Casino which he was able to do as recently as a month ago. Keith had a special relationship with sweets of all kinds, especially ice cream and for as long as anyone can remember he ate it every night before bed.

Keith was married to his loving wife Darlene. They enjoyed life together, dancing, golfing, Las Vegas trips, going to the local casinos and just purely enjoying each other. She was his rock and was by his side when his voice could no longer be heard.

Keith leaves behind his wife Darlene, daughter Jill (Alan), daughter Kelly (Bill) and son David (Debbie), along with his wonderful grandkids Kent (Jessie), Taylor, Nash (Claudia) and AJ, his stepsons, Jeff and Jamie and their families. Also, his special bright spots, his great granddaughters Viera and Ruby. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Marie Cummings, brother John, first wife Shirley and many other relatives. Keith lived a long and fulfilled life over his 91 years. He was a gracious and kindhearted man who will be missed dearly. We will all miss his special voice… "This is Keith Cummings signing off."

The family will hold a private service.

Jill, I remember listening to your dad on WILS back in the 60's, and met him in the broadcast trailer at Logan Square when they had amusement rides. The first celebrity I had ever met! What a wonderful life he has had. Let all those glorious memories comfort you.

Dear Family,
So sorry for your loss. Your father was a radio icon for me growing up in Lansing.
I was in awe when he came to speak to our 7th grade English class with Sue Norman at Dwight Rich Jr. High. We were lucky to have Wendy in our class. He was so generous with his time and a real professional. A long life well lived!
