1941-2025
- Keith Hugh Gottwald
October 22, 1941 - May 22, 2025
Heavenly Father called his son, Keith Hugh Gottwald (83), home on the morning of May 22, 2025, at his residence in
South Jordan, Utah. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. Keith was born in Silverton, Oregon, on October 22, 1941 to Hugh Gottwald and Virginia Stewart Gottwald. Hugh was so proud at Keith's birth, he ran out of the hospital shouting, "It's a boy!". Keith was the apple of his Daddy's eye; he took Keith everywhere. Unfortunately, Hugh passed away on Keith's 8th birthday due to a logging accident that occurred three days before.
After Hugh's death, Virginia eventually remarried and their family moved around the western United States until they settled in Bishop, California, where Keith met his eternal companion, Shauna Candace (Candy) Richards, at a party thrown by a mutual friend. They were married on July 3, 1964 and then sealed on December 16, 1973 in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Keith and Candy raised their seven children in Glendale, California and Taylorsville, Utah.
During the Vietnam War, Keith dutifully served his country in the Marine Corps. Then in his later years, he enjoyed serving in the Utah Army National Guard. Receiving meritorious commendations in both branches of the armed forces.
A Master Electrician by trade, Keith worked for Utah Power & Light. After he retired he continued to work in the industry, and contributed to various urban projects, including working on the Conference Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Keith had a deep love of learning, storytelling, genealogy, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Shauna Candace Richards, daughter Roxanne, son Keith Micah, and sister Cheryl Noreen Marquez.
He is survived by his children; Shauna Nanell Sorenson (Lanny), Tamsen Helm (Eric), Bronwyn Compagna (Teddy), Josh Gottwald (Paige), Nate Gottwald (Holly), Nicholas Gottwald (Natalie), 21 Grandchildren, and 3 Great Grandchildren.
