Keith Irish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on Sep. 2, 2024.
Keith R. Irish, 89, originally from Ovid, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Hazel I Findlay Country Manor.
Keith was born on October 29, 1934 in Bridgeport, MI, the son of Harold and Lorraine (Nass) Irish. He graduated from Ovid High School in 1952 and married the love of his life, Shirley (McKay) Irish, in Clare on February 20, 1960.
Following high school, Keith continued his education at DeForest Institute in Chicago studying electronics. After graduation, he set up a radio and television repair service in his parent's locker plant in Ovid. Following service in the United States Army working with electronics from 1957-1959, Keith began working at Michigan State University, first in the Department of Physiology and then in the Physical Plant until his retirement in 1993. He also served as an EMT with Ovid Area Ambulance for many years.
In 1962, Keith came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He and Shirley pursued growth in Christ by actively attending and serving at church. First Baptist Church of St. Johns became their home body where he taught Sunday School and enjoyed leading the Senior Saints ministry for over 20 years. He loved passing time on bus trips with his beloved wife Shirley and seniors, and time spent with family.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Straw of Leroy, daughters: Dawn (Russ) Benson and Deb Galloway, both of St. Johns, grandchildren: Phil (Megan) Benson, Paula (David) Sattler, Trisha (Bryan) Feldpausch, Amber Galloway and Richie Galloway. His great-grandchildren include: Nicholle, Alyssa, Taylor, Jessie, Evelyn, Melinda, Sierra, Annabelle, Maggie, Timothy, Melody, Conner, Allyson, Theodore and Hannah, as well as two great-great-grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Barbara (Bob) Taft, brother-in-law, Mervin Straw, son-in-law Mike Galloway and great-granddaughter, Gabby Feldpausch.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, St. Johns on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid. A lunch will follow at the church. The family will receive friends and relatives at First Baptist from 10-11 AM on Saturday, September 7th. Memorial gifts may be given to First Baptist Church or The Gideons International.
