Keith "Chooch" Kurta, 66, of Perryopolis, PA, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on October 2, 1958, he was the beloved son of Helen "Babe" Biachko Kurta and Robert Kurta, both of whom preceded him in death.

Chooch is survived by his three daughters, Stephanie (Jason Thompson) Ward, Ashley (Joseph) Kurta-Riley, and Kellie Kurta. He also leaves behind his siblings, Robert (Beth Ann) Kurta and Tracey (Frank Franci) Kennedy, along with his beautiful grandchildren, Landen, Gavin, Margeaux, and Haylen, who he loved bunches.

Throughout his life, Chooch dedicated himself to serving his community. He was a lifelong volunteer firefighter with Reliance Hose Co. #2 in Glassport, as well as serving as a police officer with the Glassport Boro Police Department. He later enjoyed a successful career as a truck driver with UPS, from which he retired. As an avid gun enthusiast, he was a member of the Elizabeth Township Sportsman's Club, where he was honored as the "2024 Sportsman of the Year" for his many years of volunteer work, as well as being an excellent marksman.

Chooch's generosity and compassion were evident in his willingness to help anyone in need, whether they were friends or strangers. Not one person will forget the sound of his contagiously beautiful laugh. He will be overwhelmingly missed by all who love him, but he will be welcomed by the many amazing friends and family members who went before him.

As per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be organized for family and friends, with details to be announced soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Keith "Chooch" Kurta, a cause that was close to his heart.

Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
