Keith Stanley Richards

Keith Stanley Richards, 96, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1930, in Syracuse, Nebraska, the son of Stanley and Florence Richards, the youngest of 4 siblings. He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1948. He graduated from Peru State College, Nebraska in 1952 with a degree in Education.

He married Lorraine Sich on April 25, 1954 in Ord, Nebraska.

Keith was in management with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Omaha, Nebraska and Sioux City, Iowa. He was in management with Osco Drug in Sioux City and Ottumwa, Iowa, and Bloomington, Indiana. He owned and operated The Igloo Ice Cream and Yogurt Shop in The Indianapolis City Market.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 71 years, Lorraine; son, Thomas Richards, a monk at the Abbey of Gethsemani, Trappist, Kentucky; daughters, Julie Davis (Rick) and Teresa Gorsage, both of Indianapolis, and Karen Ioannides (John) of Sonora, California, son, Timothy Richards (Janice) of Hudson, Florida;18 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Wallace Richards (Jacqueline) of Columbus, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, William; a brother, Norman Richards; and a sister, Virginia Duncan.

"Papa" Keith enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, attending their activities and celebrating their accomplishments. His hobby was working on jigsaw puzzles, gluing and framing them and giving them to family members and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and a good game of Hearts. Throughout his life he also collected coins and Wheaties boxes. His most memorable vacation was a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and to Rome. He was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Keith will be remembered in a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (2222 E. 3rd Street, Bloomington, Indiana) at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., and a reception will follow the Mass.

Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery. Allen Funeral Home was entrusted to arrangements.
