Samuel Summers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home and Crematory on Feb. 17, 2026.
Samuel Scott Summers, 64, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Born on June 13, 1961, to Jack and Jane (Miller) Summers, Sam spent his life doing what he loved - and doing it his way.

In March of 1979, Sam married the love of his life, Rossane. Together they built a life full of stories, road trips, laughter, and more than a few racing tickets. Later, Sam became a proud father to his son, Brandon - a role he carried with quiet strength and steady love.

If there was an engine roaring somewhere, chances are Sam wasn't far behind. A true Bloomingtonian, he was a familiar face at the Speedway. But his love for racing didn't recognize state lines. From camping trips in Alabama (even when the vehicle had other plans) to sun-soaked races in Florida - from Daytona, Darlington Myrtle beach, to Cocoa Beach - Sam chased the thrill wherever it led. Breakdowns were just part of the adventure, and Rossane was always right there in the passenger seat, his trusted travel companion.

Sam also had a deep-seated love for professional wrestling and cherished attending live events, including WrestleMania. Every Monday night was reserved for watching Raw, a tradition he rarely missed. Over the years, Sam was thrilled to meet and interact with many of his favorite wrestlers, creating memories he treasured throughout his life.

When he wasn't cheering on his favorite drivers or watching Gunsmoke reruns with Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty, Sam was honing his craft. A skilled stone mason by trade, he helped shape much of Bloomington's landscape. His work stands strong - much like the man himself - built to last.

Sam leaves behind his father; his wife, Rossane, son, Brandon Summers; his grandsons, Chad and Jayke Summers; his great-grandson, Colton James Scott Summers; and his sisters, Shelley Summers Wood, Angie Summers Brown, and Brande Summers Seitzinger. He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Funeral Home. Celebration of Life to be on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1-4 at American Legion in Bloomington, IN.

Sam will be remembered for his steady hands, his love of speed, his dedication to family, and his ability to turn even a roadside breakdown into a story worth telling. If there's a racetrack in heaven, you can bet he's already found the best seat.

Earlier today

I have so many memories. From Thanksgiving, Christmas, Wrestling, and the Speedway. The ankle biters. The Summers are family to me. They always had the door open and smiles. Spending trips to the casino for Ross and my birthday. Mr. Summers always had a smile when I saw him. I am so sorry for your loss, Rossi, Brandon. Never will be forgotten.
