Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home and Crematory on Feb. 14, 2026.
Reverend Wedsol Dummitt, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Born on June 16, 1942, in
Ashville, Ohio, Wedsol was the son of Wesley Edgar Dummitt and Opal (Wolfe) Dummitt. He graduated from Marion-Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio, in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Navy-an honor he carried with great pride. "All Navy-Hooyah!"
Committed to lifelong learning and faithful service, he later pursued higher education and earned his degree from Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1974.
On June 23, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio, Wedsol married the love of his life, Sharon Marie (Wilbanks) Dummitt. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.
Early in his ministry, Reverend Dummitt founded a church in Napoleon, Ohio. He went on to pastor churches throughout Ohio and Kentucky until the early 2000s, faithfully answering God's call wherever he was sent.
In his later years, Reverend Dummitt was a devoted member of Highland Village Church in
Bloomington, Indiana, where he faithfully ministered and served as an elder. In addition to his calling as a minister, Wedsol was an exceptional machinist. He worked in CNC manufacturing before retiring in 2008.
Wedsol found great joy in reading, playing cards, and-most of all-spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He loved all children and, in many ways, was a "big kid" himself.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Denise (Rev. Andrew) King of
Bloomington, Indiana; Bradley Dummitt of Tacoma, Washington; Brian Dummitt of
Bloomington, Indiana; and Brett (Tina) Dummitt of Montpelier, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Rev. Alonzo (Beverly) Dummitt of Ontario, Canada, and Rev. Wayne (Lynn) Dummitt of Radcliff, Kentucky; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Wesley Dummitt; his sister, Donna Dummitt-Austin; his beloved wife, Sharon Marie Dummitt; one granddaughter, Abigail Dummitt; and one step-grandson, Jeremiah Rios.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Highland Village Church in
Bloomington, Indiana., with visitation 2 hours prior, from 4-6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Village Church.
