Joseph "Joe" Dummitt

Joseph 'Joe' A. Dummitt, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026, at his home, at the age of 64 in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on June 10, 1961, in Austin, Texas to Robert and Jean (Peterman) Dummitt, Joe graduated with the Grove High School Ridgerunner class of 1979. He went on to establish a career as the owner and operator of Dummitt Trucking, the family business.

Joe was a quintessential good ole boy-always ready with a laugh, a smile, and deeply loving. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Kay, who preceded him in death in 2023. Joe's personality made him beloved by many, and his life was rich with friendships.

An outdoorsman, Joe cherished his time fishing in Grand Lake. His career in hauling rock fueled this hobby of sorting through rocks in search of arrowheads and other treasures. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Grove, where he found spiritual solace and community.

Joe is survived by his loving children, Jason Geer (Kerri), Billy Polk (Alicia) Alicia Kirksey and Tammy Geer, all of Grove, OK. He also leaves behind his siblings, Janie Booth (John) of Miami, OK, Karen Norton (Art) of Kingfisher, OK, and Tony and Paul Bunnell; along with 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife.

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11am at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel in Grove, OK. Burial at a later date will be at Olympus Cemetery North.
