Robin Gauthey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 12, 2026.
Robin Joy Gauthey, 68, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was born on February 23, 1958, in Columbus, Indiana, to Ivan Fawbush and Margaret (Floyd) Fawbush.

Robin graduated from Columbus East High School, where she later met the love of her life, Michael Gauthey, in 1975. The two shared a love story that spanned fifty years of marriage. Early in their relationship, Robin and Michael spent several years traveling throughout the western United States with their beloved canine companions, embracing a free-spirited lifestyle and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Eventually settling down, Robin pursued higher education at Indiana University, where she studied Special Education before welcoming her daughter, Jessie.

Robin was truly a "Jane of all trades," building a diverse professional career that included work in sales, marketing, real estate, and human resources. In December 1985, Robin and Michael's family grew with the birth of their son, Dillon. From that moment forward, Robin embodied the spirit of a devoted and protective mother, always supporting and encouraging her children in everything they pursued.

Family life revolved around their shared love of horses. Robin was actively involved with the National Barrel Horse Association and spent countless hours traveling to support her children's participation in the Vaqueros 4-H Horse and Pony Club of Monroe County and the Monroe County Saddle Club. Before their years in the show arena, the family also enjoyed spending time together on the water and embracing boating life.

When she wasn't busy being the heart of her family, Robin enjoyed making jewelry, crafting, keeping up with the news, and indulging in her favorite reality television shows.

Robin is survived by her loving husband, Michael Gauthey; her daughter, Jessica Hill; her granddaughter, Ellie Cox; her grandson, Cutler Hill; and her brother, Steve Fawbush.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Dillon Gauthey.

Robin loved the song "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and those who knew her well could see how she lived its message and passed those values on to her children. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Robin's memory to Riley Children's Hospital.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time. Allen Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
