Keith Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laurel Funeral Home - Hazlet Township on Oct. 26, 2025.
Keith Smith, 65, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2025 after a long illness. He was born on January 31, 1960, in Red Bank, New Jersey, to the late Thomas and Frances "Babe" Smith, and grew up in Belford and Keansburg.
Affectionately known to many as "Smitty," Keith graduated from Mater Dei High School and spent most of his life working as an electrician. Throughout his life, he made friends wherever he went, was always willing to lend a hand, and was often the life of the party.
Keith has been married to his wife - his "pumpkin" - Sue, since 1993. Together, they celebrated great joys and endured hardship, walking through life side by side through thick and thin.
He loved being on the job with friends, spending time with family, and was a devoted sports fan. You could often find him on the couch, cheering for the Giants and the Rangers. Keith also adored his pets - Rodney, Lukey, and Sophie - who were as much a part of his life as any family member.
Keith was predeceased by his brothers Sean, Kevin, and Brian. He is survived by his wife Sue, his brother Tommy (Angie), his sister Arlene, and his brother Dennis. He is also survived by his in-laws, Sheron (Tommy), Richard (Michelle), Bethann (Chris), and Maureen (Bill), along with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Smitty will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend whose sense of humor, resilience, and generous heart left lasting memories for everyone blessed to know him. He lit up every room he entered and treasured his large extended family. Keith poured his heart into being an uncle, always showing up for the kids in every way he could. His legacy is one of love, strength, and loyalty.
Services: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at Laurel Funeral Home from 4:00–8:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church in Keansburg.
Memorial Contributions: Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to help cover funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult time.
