Kelly Dawn Mason, a beloved member of her community and devoted family member, passed away on October 1, 2025, in Nicholson, Georgia. Born on April 12, 1967, in Athens, Georgia, Kelly touched the lives of many as a dedicated School Bus Monitor for Jackson County, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children.
Kelly was a proud member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where she actively participated in church activities and cultivated relationships with fellow congregants. Her faith was an integral part of her life and guided her in all her endeavors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chris Mason, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Together, they nurtured their cherished daughter, Brittany (Austin) Saye, who brought immense joy to Kelly's life. As a grandmother, Kelly found great delight and fulfillment in her role, embracing her grandchildren, Aubrey Saye and Brogan Saye, with unconditional love.
Kelly also had a close-knit relationship with her family, which included her dear niece, Katie McFarland, as well as her nephews, Walter McFarland and Noah McFarland. Her presence in their lives was a source of encouragement and love, fostering bonds that will endure.
Kelly is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Faye Holmes Roberts, whose legacy she carried with pride and reverence throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. A funeral service honoring Kelly's life will take place at New Hope Baptist Church, located at 40 Old Kings Bridge Rd, Nicholson, GA 30565, on October 4, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM. The body will lie in state beginning at 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Burial will follow at Bethabara Cemetery, Hwy. 78, Bogart, GA.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Beck, Jason Beck, Justin Sorrow, Chris Smith, Shane Pursley, and Steven Wood.
Kelly Dawn Mason will be remembered not only for her professionalism and commitment to her community but also for her unwavering love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication that will live on in the hearts of those she cherished.
