Kelly Simes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2025.
Kelly Ann Simes was born on June 16, 1980, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away on September 24, 2025, in Bakersville, North Carolina, at the age of 45.

Kelly was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, granddaughter, and a true friend to all who knew her. She was the proud mother of Savanna, and Elizabeth, who were the joys of her life.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Kelly lived life with spirit and determination. She was a certified SCUBA diver, a college cheerleader, and a two-time national champion with the Charlotte Allstars Cheerleaders. Beyond her accomplishments, she was admired for her kindness, warmth, and the way she made everyone feel welcome in her presence.

Kelly had many passions. She loved animals-especially bulldogs-and found joy in nurturing her garden, growing produce she used in her cooking and canning. She was a talented cook, and her kitchen was often filled with the comfort of homemade meals. Creative and thoughtful, Kelly enjoyed arts and crafts, especially making Christmas decorations, ornaments, and handmade gifts that brightened the holidays for her loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Kirkland; her daughters, Savanna and Elizabeth; her father, Robert Simes Jr., and his wife, Deirdre; and her father- and mother-in-law, Sam and Judy Kirkland. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Taggert Simes.

Kelly will be remembered for her generous heart, her joyful spirit, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
