Kelly was a lover of all God's creatures especially horses and dogs, she loved playing musical instruments especially the piano. Kelly graduated from Grundy Senior High School as the salutatorian in 1982. She attended Southwest Virginia Community College and King College. She earned her B.S. degree from the University of Virginia and her M.D. from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She practiced several years in Family Medicine at Buchanan General Hospital before moving to Fries, VA to open her private practice Fries Community Health Care. She was a caring Doctor that went over and beyond the call of duty to help her patients.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister: Julia Leigh Vandyke; maternal grandparents: Walter and Carlie Boyd.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving mother: Linda Sue (Boyd) Vandyke, Abingdon, VA; brother: Barry Dean Vandyke, Abingdon, VA; nieces and nephews: Travis Dean Vandyke, Kari Ann Vandyke, Dakota Lee Vandyke, Brittany Leigh Sheets.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday at 1:00 P.M. till the funeral hour.
Funeral Services for KELLY SUE VANDYKE will be conducted Monday, October 14, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. with Donnie Bailey officiating with burial to follow in the W.A. Boyd Cemetery on Big Fox, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy, VA is honored to serve the family of KELLY SUE VANDYKE.

She was the most caring Dr.i ever had....she was missed from the fries clinic and will be missed forever more...fly high my friend.
