Angels trumpeted "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey as Heaven welcomed loving husband, father, brother and friend, Ken Heffron, home on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Born on February 29, 1960 (a leap year baby) in Washington state, he was raised in Tacoma with his younger siblings: three brothers and a sister. "Kenny" was always the big brother and protector; his favorite calling was taking care of everyone around him, especially those he loved. He cherished his childhood/teenage friends and grew up working on cars-his favorite being a 1964 Red Chevy Impala aka "The Machine."
At 18, Ken joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and proudly served in the Northern Utah Mission in Salt Lake City a few years later. That's where he met his sweetheart, Holly, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1985.
Ken and Holly were blessed with their wonderful daughter, Hilary Claire, who is the light of their lives. This small, close-knit family loved each other and shared everything together, especially their love of animals. They've had many dogs, cats, and bunnies over the years and he loved every single furry face as much as they loved and adored him.
His love of people and connections was displayed as he was quickly promoted to a manager wherever he worked. He enjoyed his jobs at Price Savers, Radio Shack, Pep Boys, the newspaper agency, and loved delivering flowers with Hilary.
Having battled numerous medical problems and becoming disabled since 2003, Ken was hailed multiple times as the "one-in-a-million patient" who constantly beat the odds. He valiantly fought every trial thrown his way with a positive outlook, a strong testimony of the gospel, and of course TV/movies/music always playing in the background because he hated silence and loved to take in as much information as he could.
Whether it was a dog who wanted to run up and love on him, a cat who wanted to cuddle in his lap, or nurses who he made sure called him Ken and not Kenneth, he was never a stranger to anyone, and was beloved by everyone who met him. Many people who came across him commented on his leather bracelets (of which he usually had about a dozen on each arm) or his cool band tees that were always a couple sizes too big, but that's how he liked it and you couldn't convince him otherwise!
With a devout love of his black Jeep and John Wick movies, pride that he could play the horror movie Halloween's theme on the piano even though he couldn't sing, and an adorable delight when he did something cool on his phone but wasn't sure how he did it, Ken brought true joy to those around him, especially his wife and daughter, who will miss him so dearly.
As a true example of a faithful son of God, Ken approached his trials with a smile and with an unwavering faith in the Lord. If anything, his trials cemented his belief in the gospel and the revelation that families can be together forever.
Though we are humbled and glad his physical trials are over, we know his loving and kind spirit will watch over those who he is survived by: his wife, Holly, and their daughter Hilary; brothers, Scott and Bryan, and sister, Renee; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Whenever a rock song comes on or a cool Jeep rolls past, don't be surprised if you feel a little extra breeze-that's just Ken, turning up the volume and singing off-key from the clouds.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 18, with a viewing from 10:30-11:45 am at the LDS Church located at 8385 S 4800 West, West Jordan, UT 84098. Interment to follow at West Jordan City Cemetery.
