Kendrick Lee Harris, 39, of Shenandoah, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, he was the heart of his family and a blessing to all that knew him.
Kendrick was born on July 5, 1985 in Englewood, CO and was a son of Derek and Lacinda Harris. Kendrick was a beloved husband to Amanda, his best friend and partner in life, and the proud father of two sons, Stratton Lee Harris and Colton Lee Harris, who were his greatest pride and joy. Whether it was sharing in the joy of bull riding, working alongside them in the garage, or tending to the farm, he cherished every moment spent by their sides. An electrician by trade, he built a respected career in his field. He worked for Dyna Electric for 18 years at the Visa Data Center in Ashburn. Most recently, he transitioned to working directly for Visa. He was deeply admired by his colleagues for his loyalty, expertise, and laughter he brought to the workplace, forming lasting friendships throughout his career.
Kendrick was a people person who never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel like family. His quick wit and sense of humor could brighten any room, and his selflessness knew no bounds. His laughter was contagious, his smile unforgettable, and his heart as big as the world. He had a unique way of keeping everyone on their toes and if you found yourself on the receiving end of one of his playful jabs, it was his way of saying you meant the world to him. His good-natured mischief and sharp wit were part of what made him so unforgettable. Whether it was sneaking an extra sprinkle of sarcasm into a conversation or poking fun just enough to make you smile, Kendrick's humor was his way of connecting with everyone around him and he wouldn't have it any other way.
He was the glue that held his family and friends together, always ready to drop everything to help someone in need. He knew the value of time spent with loved ones. He loved "Lake Life" at Lake Anna and could be found almost every summer weekend enjoying time on the water with his family and friends filling the air with laughter, unforgettable stories and of course, loud music blasting from the many speakers on his boat. Lake Anna was a place where Kendrick's larger-than-life personality burned as fiercely and as wildly as the bonfires he built, bringing people together and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
On December 6, 2008, he married the love of his life, Amanda who survives.
In addition to his wife, parents and two sons, Kendrick is survived by a brother, Preston Harris and wife, Sarah; grandparents, Ronnie and Sally Walker, Betty Harris; brothers-in-law, Kyle, Hunter, Duane; nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Alaina, Parker, Axl, Vera; and many special friends who will greatly miss him.
Kendrick was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Harris in 2016.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 6 until 8 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
A celebration of Kendrick's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Bradley Goepel officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the Celebration of Life where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and support one another in honor of Kendrick. In keeping with Kendrick's laid-back spirit, the family encourages guests to dress casually for both the service and reception.
It has been said by many that the world has lost a truly good man. Though his time here was far too short, Kendrick's impact will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
