Kenneth Ray Abels Jr, age 74 of Clinton, passed away at Parkwest Medical Center on July 28, 2025. Mr. Abels was a beloved resident at Meadow View Senior Living in Clinton, TN, until recently. Though Mr. Abels had a sweet spirit and a quiet demeanor, he was passionate about current events and Tennessee Volunteer football and basketball.
Mr. Abels was born November 4, 1950, in Rockwood, TN. He lived in the Fork Mountain community of New River during his elementary years attending Rosedale Elementary School in Devonia, TN, and was a member of the Fork Mountain Baptist Church. He moved to Oliver Springs in 1967, graduating from Oliver Springs High School in 1969, and he resided there until 2011. Most recently, he resided at Meadow View Senior Living Center in Clinton, TN, for 12 years through 2024. He was employed by E.G.&G. Ortec (PerkinElmer, Ametek) in Oak Ridge, TN, in 1972 until becoming disabled in 1996. He is preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth R. Abels Sr & Kathleen Daniels Abels. He is survived by:
Sister & Brother-in-law: Linda Kay Abels Chase and Danny Chase of Clinton, TN
Nephew: Kevin Chase of Orlando, FL
Niece: Kristen Chase Manuel (Andy) of Bossier City, LA
Great Nephews: Lucas and Riley Manuel of Bossier City, LA
Aunt: Phyllis White of Oliver Springs, TN
and many loving cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm ET at Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City, TN. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating. Graveside and interment service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 am ET in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Kenney Ray Abels Jr.
