Kenneth Lee Anderson, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at Northwestern McHenry Hospital, surrounded by family. Kenny was born on February 15th, 1946 in Spencer, West Virginia, to the parents of Paul and Juanita Anderson. He was a proud resident of Reedy, WV, and was a 1964 graduate of Spencer High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen West on May 28th, 1966. After joining the United States Army in 1965 and serving in the Vietnam War, Kenny returned home to work for Eureka Pipeline for 32 years. He then worked for L&R Well Service until retiring at the age of 62.
Kenny was very active in his community, serving terms as the Democratic Committee Chairman, Roane County Country Club President, member of the Spencer Jay Cees, and a faithful member of the Liberty Methodist Church, in which Kenny was baptized, served as Superintendent, and Adult SS Class teacher. Kenny and Karen moved to Fox Lake, Illinois in 2019, where he joined the Mount Hope Methodist family.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Karen and their two children Pamela Ingram and Jill (Zach) Steffens, grandchildren Nick Ingram, Alexandra Steffens, Kendall Steffens, and Annabel Steffens, Brothers Ray (Kay) Anderson and David (Pat) Anderson, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jessie Justice, two brothers, Grover and Michael Anderson, and his grandson, Baby Boy Steffens.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 1015 W Broadway Street, McHenry, IL 60051 on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend a reception afterwards at the Steffens residence in Volo, IL 60073.
In honor of Kenny’s wishes, the family asks that you forgive someone, adopt a pet, or consider a special donation for their local foodbank, FISH of MCHENRY COUNTY FOOD PANTRY. Donations can be made to PO Box 282 McHenry, IL 60051. These acts of kindness reflect the generosity and compassion that Kenny embodied throughout his life.
