MORTON – Kenneth W. Aupperle, 92, of Morton, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday October 14, 2025.
Ken was born July 27, 1933, in Morton, Illinois, to William and Sophia (Kaisner) Aupperle. He married Carol Ann Friedinger on August 7,1955, in Pekin, Illinois. She preceded him in death July 23,2009. He later married Carol Lindstrom on September 22, 2012, in Morton. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, William Jr.; his son, Bruce Aupperle; his daughter-in-law, Debra Aupperle and his best friend, Jay Ackerman.
Surviving are his daughters, Lori (Earl) Waughop, Lisa (Greg) Stone and Lynn (Garlan) Guthrie; brother, Steve (Nancy) Aupperle; and sister, Delores (John) Woodburn. Also surviving are his wife, Carol Lindstrom-Aupperle; stepsons, Mark Reecy and Matt (Barbara) Reecy; and grandchildren, Andy (Jill) Aupperle, Carolyn Aupperle, Kenny (Kylee) Stone, Rachel Harshbarger and Emily (Chad) Wurmnest; great grandchildren, Jack, Lucy and Parker; step-grandchildren, Katelyn (Adam), Brittney (Neil), Cali, Brooke and Kaleb; step-great grandchildren, Lily, Blake, Addison, and Nellie.
Ken was a United States Army veteran. He attended Bradley University.
Ken had worked in the family business, Aupperle Construction. He was very proud of the fact that this year marked their 120-year anniversary. Ken also owned and worked at Cook Rental in Morton. After he retired from Aupperle Construction, he worked as an Executive Director of Tazewell County Builders Association.
He was an active member of the Morton Methodist Church. His community service and volunteer activities over the years included, Morton Precinct Committeeman (50+ years), Morton Assessor, (8 years) The Optimist Club, The Jaycees, the original Morton Park Board, American Legion, VFW, Peoria Honor Flight,The Elks Club in Pekin, Morton Camera Club, Morton Wood Carving club, Habitat For Humanity, Easter Seals -UPC, Morton Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts Of America, Morton and Clearwater Rotary Club, Morton Pumpkin Festival Food Tent and avid parade watcher with his family. He was even LUCKY enough to be the Morton Pumpkin Festival Parade Marshall in 2001. Ken has always been Morton's biggest cheerleader and the unionized construction industry too! Ken has always been a great supporter of TRICON and he had the honor to be the Construction Man of the Year in 2002. He enjoyed his family and friends with pool parties and great family vacations to the Ozarks. Ken loved going to Clearwater, FL and enjoyed the beach sunsets and people watching on the beach. Ken loved to travel and always enjoyed his great adventures. His travels took him to countries in five of the seven continents including Cuba, Isreal, China, Vietnam, France, Switzerland, Liberia, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Poland, Austria, Vietnam, and Panama Canal.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Morton Methodist Church, with Pastor Bill Novak officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Morton Methodist Church building debt reduction fund, Morton Opportunity Club or Peoria Honor Flight.
