Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. - AltoonaKenneth Robert Bougher, 81, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, under the watchful and loving care of his wife and daughter. Ken was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served two tours with the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. His service instilled in him a lifelong dedication to supporting fellow veterans. He received several awards for his exceptional efforts in employing veterans as owner of Henneman Detective Agency. Throughout his life, he embraced many roles—licensed detective, truant officer, school bus and Brinks driver, butcher, and staff member at the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home. In each, he brought integrity, commitment, and his signature good humor. Ken will be remembered most for his warm, jovial spirit. His quick wit and unforgettable catchphrases were a joy that stayed with him until his final days. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—his trusty rottweiler companions, a cold popsicle (or five), and a great bargain. A graduate of Altoona Area High School, he went on to complete extensive training in law enforcement, including studies at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Beyond his work, Ken was deeply rooted in his community as an active member of organizations such as the American Legion, AAHS Alumni Association, Blair County Law Enforcement Association, Free and Accepted Masons, Jaffa Shriners, Kiwanis, and Lions Club. Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication. He is survived, most notably, by his devoted wife of 62 years, Sandra; his daughter, Lori; his grandson, Brandon; his brother, Dennis; and two nieces, Denise and Danielle. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeff, and brother, Randy. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join in honoring Ken’s life at his burial service with military honors at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery Mausoleum Section, Altoona, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to a local charity of your choice, such as the Central PA Humane Society, Mending Hearts, or the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen.
