Mr. Edward Augustus "Gus" Dearolph, age 85, of College Park, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1939, in Parker, Pennsylvania to the late Edwin J. Dearolph and Florence Rupert Dearolph. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Dearolph, and a brother, Captain David J. Dearolph, US Navy, Retired. Survivors include his son, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffery E. Dearolph, US Marine Corps, Retired, and his wife, Margy; daughter, Laura Dearolph Brown, and her husband, Tony; grandchildren, Elizabeth Luckett and her husband Billy, Katie Brown, Matthew Dearolph and Eric Brown; great-grandson, Levi Luckett; and extended family and friends.

Gus graduated from Parker High School in 1957 and then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning a degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation in 1961, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. He married Eleanor Winslow on August 5, 1961. In 1965, he resigned his commission and was hired as a teacher at the Georgia Military Academy in College Park, Georgia, which later became known by its current name, Woodward Academy. He taught at Woodward for 42 years teaching a variety of classes, most notably, physics. He earned a Master's Degree in Physics from the University of Georgia in 1967. He subsequently became the chairman of Woodward's Science Department and served in that capacity for many years. He was also a long-time member of College Park Presbyterian Church and later Peachtree Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at Peachtree Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM with a burial service following on Wednesday, October 8 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
