Kenneth George Brown

Kenneth George Brown, age 90 of Dayton, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024. He was born March 20, 1934 in Albany, New York, the son of the late George and Mary Brown. After high school, Ken enlisted in the United States Army. He attended training stateside, then received orders to serve out his enlistment in Panama. After serving his country, he worked for 33 years as a Manufacturing Engineer for General Motors at the Tonawanda, NY and Moraine, OH engine assembly plants. After retiring from GM, he continued to work as a Tool Designer in the automotive industry until June 2023. At 89 years old, he decided to retire to spend time with his wife of 55 years, June. Ken didn't let age hold him back from enjoying life to the fullest! When he wanted to do something, he just did it! He got his first of three tattoos at 86 years old. He started shooting guns regularly at the range at 88 years old. His love for cars was apparent from his continuous rotation of cars owned and customized. Lastly, Ken was an active Freemason. He served in many Lodge officer positions to include Worshipful Master. Ken wore many hats in his life, husband, father, grandfather, and co-worker. As a husband, he demonstrated what it meant to love someone. He was a provider and always wanted to make sure June was taken care of. The first thing he did when he walked in the door from work was give June a kiss. He would put his arm around her and call her "my chick." As a father, he demonstrated what it meant to show up. Whether it was games, races, or ceremonies, he was always there. He encouraged his kids to go for it in life and always looked at the positives. He was proud and always excited about their achievements and opportunities. As a grandfather, he demonstrated what it meant to uplift, support, and encourage. He saw the greatness in his grandkids, and he always made it known. No matter where you were in life or what you were doing, he gifted you with unconditional love and encouragement that could keep you going, even through the hardest of days. As a co-worker, he demonstrated what it meant to be a team player, to show respect, and what it took to get the job done. Each morning, he would walk the production line to say Good Morning and Hello. During breaks, he would shoot the breeze, talk baseball, or ask how you were doing. Ken, Kenny, Gramps, Poppy, Pops, Dad, Brother, however you knew him, he left an imprint that brings a smile. Memories of him will forever be cherished. His smile and laughter will forever be missed. Ken did it his way! Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, June; daughters, Jeanne (David) Lowe, Kim Brown, Sue Brown-Gosney; sons, Kenneth D. (Tracey) Brown, Ricky (Maria) Joyner, Timothy (Beth) Joyner; sister, Carolee (Carlo) Luberti; and grandchildren- Timothy Joyner, Shannon Joyner, Christina Joyner, Ashley Greig, Megan Sexton, Christopher Brown, Garrett Brown, Sarah Brown, Savannah Lowe. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Brown; and his brother, Roy Brown. Visitation will be held on May 2, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). A memorial service will begin at 5:00 pm, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kenneth's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
