Kenneth Buxton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on Jan. 7, 2026.
Kenneth Merle Buxton, a resident of Lansing, Michigan died at Burcham Hills on January 5, 2026, at the age of 87.
He was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on April 12, 1938, to Adria Lynn and Merle Lawrence. He spent most of his life there with his sisters, Pat and Linda. After his mom married William Buxton, they moved to Colorado, and later Michigan, where he graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan with the Class of '56. He excelled in sports and participated in basketball, football & baseball. His remaining time at Burcham Hills was spent enjoying the games on television.
After working briefly in construction, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and served four years as a Communication Center Specialist. He worked various jobs in Michigan, Indiana, & Colorado and ended up as Manager in the Oil business with Texaco and Amoco as a Supervisor in their field offices. He retired as a driver for Maurers Dry Cleaners with whom he enjoyed working from 1997-2012. He and his wife Marie rekindled their relationship in 1996,-after first meeting in 1966 in Lansing. They were married on April 5, 1997, and celebrated twenty-eight years of marriage this past year.
Ken had a sense of humor that, at times, he would laugh, but no one else would although, we found by listening to him, while he was responding to his sit-com shows, it made us feel happy, that he was being entertained. It certainly resonated with us.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank Burcham Hills and Heart to Heart Hospice for the kindness, care, and support they provided.
He leaves his beloved wife, Marie; two sisters, Pat in Willis, Texas, Linda in Georgetown, Colorado; a son, Todd, and his wife, Lucky, in Montgomery, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his mom, Adria in 2013, his father, William Buxton in 1996, and his biological father, Merle Lawrence in 2010.
Ken will be cremated. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ken's memory to Heart to Heart Hospice, 2260 E Saginaw St, STE A, East Lansing, MI 48823
