On March 12, 2022 Kenneth Norman Christian Sr., 81, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away peacefully at home. Kenny was the beloved husband of Joan Christian and was married to her for 60 years; he was the cherished son of Herbert and Geneva Christian; devoted father of Kathy Arnold and her husband Chuckie; Kenny Christian Jr., Lisa Cornett and her husband Mike, Crystal Marshall and her husband Steve, and Michael Christian; loving grandfather of Kayla, Brittany, Paul, Lynn, Mikey, Heather, Matthew, Christian, Carter, Ryan, Blake and the late Kenny III; caring great-grandfather of Mia, Joshua, Landon, Tristan, Lilly, Marie, Chasity, Hunter and James; dear brother of Juanita, Margaret, Katie, Lois, Michael and the late Della, Dennis and baby Herbert; and is also survived by many loving family and friends.
Kenny was born in Welch, West Virginia and later moved to Maryland where he met the love of his life, Joan. He loved, cherished and adored her and would gush about her to anyone who would listen. Kenny always put his family first and worked hard his whole life to provide for them. He worked as a Building Engineer for Harford County Public Schools for many years. Kenny was very proud to serve in the United States Army Reserve and was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. He loved the Lord and shared that love with his children and in church through music as he often sang and played in church with Joan and his children.
Kenny loved spending time outside. He enjoyed working in the yard, loved to fish, tinker in his garage with his many toys and enjoyed an occasional ride on his motorcycle. He loved antique cars and trucks, enjoyed restoring them and had a 1952 Ford F-1 pickup truck that he spent a lot of time working on over the years as a hobby.
Kenny was a self-taught musician and prolifically played the banjo, guitar and mandolin. He was a master at it. He loved and played bluegrass music as well as old-fashioned gospels and hymns. He passed on his musical legacy to his children and many family and friends by teaching them how to play. Music was always in his heart and home and was a very important part of his life.
Kenny's love of family, God and music is a legacy that will live on.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Kenny's life at the family-owned Evans Life Celebration Home in Forest Hill, MD – 3 Newport Drive on Thursday, March 17th, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held the following day on Friday, March 18th, 2022 in the funeral home's chapel at 1PM.
